Maia Sandu has been appointed as Minister of Education of Moldova in July 2012. Under her leadership, the Ministry of Education has launched a range of important reforms to improve access, quality, and relevance of education, most notably the overhaul of the examination system, the creation of a quality assurance agency in professional education, and the launch of a new Education Code. From 2010 to 2012, she has worked as Advisor to the Executive Director at World Bank in Washington DC, USA. Before that, she has held a range of posts in government and international organizations, including Programme Coordinator at UNDP, Director at the Ministry of Economy, and consultant at the World Bank Office in Moldova. Ms. Sandu holds a MPA degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
